Informal care from the perspective of general practitioners
Hvojníková, Klára ; Povolná, Pavla (advisor) ; Vrzáček, Petr (referee)
This diploma thesis focuses on the process of informal care from the perspective of general practitioners and examines the key role they play in the initial phase of setting up the process of care in a home environment. Specifically, the thesis deals with providing information and advice at the beginning of home care, which is often considered by informal caregivers to be a crucial starting point that can significantly influence the further process of informal care and the fate of the patient and their relatives. The thesis also identifies barriers and points of friction that may arise between informal caregivers and general practitioners, as well as the consequences of insufficient information for informal caregivers. In most cases, insufficient information for caregivers leads to the premature termination of home-based care, without the use of all available support resources. The principle of subsidiarity can be violated. because relatives of informal caregivers may be therefore relocated to specialized residential facilities, or at the end of home care, they may be transferred to hospital facilities with no opportunity to pass away in a comfort of their own home, surrounded by family. The aim of the thesis is to contribute to the development of a strategy, or tactics, to improve cooperation and...
Measuring the burden of caring for the elderly
Mezenský, Štěpán ; Remr, Jiří (advisor) ; Tuček, Milan (referee)
This thesis focuses on informal care and the burden of informal care. The aim is to explore the current form of informal care and to reflect on it with existing knowledge. In its first part, the thesis focuses on a description of the demographic development of the seniors, a description of informal care and the problems associated with it, solidarity, caregiving burden, and the possibilities of assistance and support for informal caregivers. Furthermore, the thesis sets out to describe what assistive technologies are, how informal carers use them and how they relieve them of the caring burden. Peripherally, the thesis also touches on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the caregiving burden. Through quantitative measurement using my own modification of the ZBI-4 questionnaire, I describe caregiving burden, taking into account basic sociodemographic data. The results show no statistically significant differences either across genders or across generations, apart from a significantly lower perceived caregiving burden for Generation X. I follow the quantitative part of the research with the qualitative part, based on semi-structured interviews. In the qualitative part, I describe the reasons for the decision for informal caregiving, its form and consequences, potential generational differences,...

The theoretical part of the thesis presents the current possibilities of senior care and providing life in dignity in old age. It is presenting the historical development in the field of engagement of foreign workers. The basic definitions of the terms migrant, commuter and job mobility are dealt with in the chapter devoted to migration. The author discusses the causes and consequences of migration in the care sector. A considerable space of the theoretical part is devoted to the analysis of specific social- legislative framework of 24 - hour home care of foreign caregivers in Austria. To build the theoretical basis of the work, not only Czech available titles, but especially German written scientific literature and professional articles and official documents of the Austrian government has been used as well. The practical part is based on a research survey, specifically a collection of field data in the form of a structured interview with open questions, which provided the essential data. This research took place in the province of Lower Austria, the region called Waldviertel. After a thorough analysis of data outputs and a comparison with the theses in the literature, it was possible to draw a conclusion to evaluate the experience of the presence of a Czech caregiver in Austrian families and identify the current problems of this specific service. The results may serve in practice as a basis for decision-making, either by care clients or by caregivers who are still considering the eventuality of their future profession in Austria.
